Beekeeping for Beginners – Educational Workshop

Thinking about keeping bees but not sure where to start?

Join us at Clayfields Artisan Honey for a relaxed, practical introduction to the world of beekeeping. This session is designed for complete beginners, curious locals, future beekeepers, or anyone who simply wants to better understand what is involved in keeping bees.

This is not a live beekeeping experience, and you won’t be opening active hives or working with live bees. Instead, we’ll use a Flow Hive and display equipment to walk through how a hive works, what each component does, and what you actually need to know before starting your own colony.

We’ll cover the basics of bee behaviour, hive setup, essential equipment, seasonal hive management, harvesting honey, common challenges, pests and disease — including Varroa — and some of the realities that new beekeepers often don’t hear about before buying their first hive.

The session will be informal and interactive, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and see the equipment up close.

Come in normal casual clothing — no bee suit required.
